Your greatest instrument is you, yourself, and the work of self-understanding is endless.

Irvin D. Yalom. The Spinoza Problem.

There is a difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy.

Both Counselling and Psychotherapy are based on the relationship between the Therapist and the Client.

Counselling focuses on a specific problem and taking the steps to address or solve it.The emphasis is on the present without too much attention on past experiences.

Psychotherapy usually goes on for longer than Counselling. It explores repeating patterns of behaviour and recurrent negative feelings. How behaviour patterns from the past are having a negative impact in the present can often be a focus.

The aim of Psychotherapy is to resolve the underlying issues causing distress.

What happens in the relationship between the Client and Therapist can be a

reflection of what is happening outside in the world of the Client. This applies especially to relationships.
